Police K9 Training Facility – Commissioned August 2011.
From the Oregonian, August 3, 2011.
The dog days of summer took on a new meaning Wednesday in Salem, as the city’s police department and police foundationofficially opened a new state-of-the-art canine training facility at the Willow Lake Water Pollution Control Facility.
The event highlighted the 26 obstacles and training stations at the facility with demonstrations. Patrol and narcotics canines will train at the center.
The project manager, Dennis Miller of Silverton, first read about the police department’s interest in the facility in the newspaper almost a year ago and got his entire family to help with the ten-month project. Many of the supplies were donated by local businesses.
